I have to admit ... sometimes I make stupid mistakes ... and instead of slowing down and rethinking I just increase the tempo ... and the result could be quite messy ...
Today I fought the Essbase 11.1.3 client installation on Solaris ... It had to be performed under separate user so after sudo su -
you type su userName -
of course if you are too in a hurry you missed the hyphen !!!
So what happens you become the userName user , but ... it takes your environmental variables and the installer starts to complain about not having permissions to write on $HOME/software directories ... of course not because they belong to the superuser !!!
Anyway this one of the reasons I love Linux and Solaris ... they simply are not flexible but smash you with your own stupidity ...
