#go to the dir
cd git-1.8.4.4

# Action !!!
./configure
make
make install

#where the git binary is
which git

# check the version as well
git --version

#download the man packages
cd /usr/share/man
curl -O https://www.kernel.org/pub/software/scm/git/git-manpages-1.8.4.4.tar.xz
tar -xovf git-manpages-1.8.4.4.tar.xz

# check the man funcionality
man git
