As an IT guy most of my less IT prone people ask for IT related favors ...
Yesterday a good friend of mine wanted to install Skype on his Finnish IPhone ... His was largely disappointed after noticing that the use over 3G is restricted ... and it was a hard time for me trying to explain him about all the lock in of customers ... large plan paying ... big money interests etc. why it did not work ...
Than he ask about any "turnaround" ... and than it was again the big talk about the "cat and the mouses" , "the bricks and the hacks " ...
And guess what he was still 100% happy and confident about his IPhone against my N900 with the integrated Skype and GoogleTalk and possibilities for whatever future Internet based UC ...
Ok. So what the lesson here. Marketing rules. It is all about the Customer perception and feelings and not about any metrics, "real facts" etc.
So .. my personal perception is :
IPHONE IS COOL , BUT ....
IT SUCKS !!!
