I felt always annoyed with the stupid implementation of the full screen in Word - it is unstable and this damned close full screen button is alwyas cloning itself and jumping all over the place .
The solution:
Remove all the toolbars , leave the menu , put it on left
Tools - Options - View tab , remove Status bar , Horizontal scroll bar ,Windows in Taskbar , Startup task pane
